Install WATranslate

For the best iPhone experience, open WATranslate in Safari.

  1. Tap the Share button.
  2. Choose Add to Home Screen.
  3. Tap Add.
  4. Open WATranslate from its Home Screen icon.

When opened from the Home Screen, WATranslate runs without Safari's normal address and navigation bars.

Use your browser's install or Add to Home Screen option to install WATranslate.

Settings

Changes the application name on web and in the PWA manifest.
Name shown under the installed iPhone/PWA icon. Recommended: 12–15 characters. Leave blank to use the application name.
Text shown below the application name on the login screen. Leave blank to use the translated default.

Admin session

Logs the admin out after this amount of user inactivity. Background message polling does not keep the session active.
Used on the desktop/web login screen and desktop header. PNG, JPG or WebP, max 5 MB. Recommended: 512 × 512 px, square 1:1. Transparent PNG or WebP preferred.
Used on the mobile login screen and inside the mobile/PWA header. PNG, JPG or WebP, max 5 MB. Recommended: 512 × 512 px, square 1:1. Transparent PNG or WebP preferred.
Used for the browser favicon and mobile/Home Screen icon. Use a square PNG, JPG or WebP image of at least 512 × 512 px. Recommended: 1024 × 1024 px, square 1:1 PNG. Use a solid background and keep important artwork inside the central 80% so it remains safe when iOS/PWA masks the icon.

Existing iPhone Home Screen icons may require removing and adding the web app again before a new name/icon appears.

New message notifications

In-app alerts and unread badges are always active while WATranslate is running.

Browser / system notifications Allow the browser or installed app to show a system notification for new messages.
